10th edition of Consumer Reports Best Baby Products is now available. This nearly 400 page book is full of helpful shopping advice and rates everything you need for your baby from bottles to breast pumps.

Chapter 12 focuses on cribs and provides very useful information to keep in mind when shopping for cribs. Consumer Reports suggests purchasing a crib with stationary sides, which is free of moving parts. On Stationary cribs all four sides remain stable and they do not have a drop-side. It is noted that depending on your height, it can be difficult to reach your baby however.
Additionally, Consumer Reports notes "Folding sides are safer than drop sides." They tested Baby's Dream Ocean drop-gate crib. The drop-gate is noted as being a safety feature to prevent the child in the crib from operating the folding side, and enables parents to easily reach into the crib by providing more room to bend over.
